Description of the Project/ Objectives: 

Τhe “STELIOS IOANNOU” LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE is completed with the co-funding of the European Regional Development Fund.  The building, as an artificial hill, has a total surface area of approximately 15,700m2 and it rises vertically to 5 levels.  This contemporary multifunctional space integrates the Library and other compatible with modern technology uses.

The horizontal layout is formed by a 40m diameter basic cylinder and three wings around it.  

The Library houses 620,000 printed volumes, over 420,000 subscriptions to titles of electronic books, over 12,000 subscriptions to electronic and printed journals and over 180 titles in databases.  It also provides 900 study seats that are equipped with modern technology and 31 individual study boxes.

The 3 wings house the IT OPAC Labs, multimedia auditoriums and teaching rooms, advanced technologies labs, administrative offices and the building’s functional support spaces. 

The Library is open to all citizens and seeks to serve all scientists and researchers in the country, as the main research library.

Results: The project aims to strengthen the infrastructure and capacity development of excellence in research and innovation.
