Description of the Project/Objectives:

With the co-financing of the EU Cohesion Fund, a nationwide network of Green Points has been set up, comprising of 22 fixed points. At these points, citizens will be able to deposit special streams of household waste, such as recyclable materials, fabrics, pruning, medicine, lamps, cleaning materials, electrical and electronic equipment waste, bulky waste (furniture, mattresses, etc.). The waste that will be collected at the Green Points will be transferred to licensed organizations, who will then manage or dispose the waste.

During the 2014-2020 programming period, the construction of additional Green Points is being promoted, in order to extend the coverage of the network.

Expected Results:
The construction of Green Points will substantially contribute to the achievement of the objectives for proper waste management hierarchy (reduction, re-use, recycling, recovery, diversion), reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2 and CH4), formulating a new approach to what is and what is not waste, reducing the rejection of useful objects and materials, and developing new manner of social behavior.
